Bold, Vibrant, and Unforgettable: Rhesa & Chris’s Winston-Salem Downtown Engagement Session

Starting with a Vintage Touch at Joyne’s Bar

A sweet dip kiss.

Our first stop was Joyne’s Bar, a venue filled with moody, vintage charm. In one area of the bar, a black hallway created the perfect backdrop for dramatic, striking shots. I placed a single chair in the center of the hallway and posed Rhesa and Chris in a way that highlighted their strong connection. The resulting images had a cinematic feel, full of intimacy and raw emotion.

The highlight of Joyne’s, though, was their iconic 70’s room. Complete with velvet couches and wallpapered walls, this space transported us back in time. With the room all to ourselves, Rhesa and Chris embraced the moment, and we captured some intimate (and spicy!) shots that truly celebrated their bond. This part of the session felt adventurous and authentic, perfectly matching the vibe of the space.

Relaxing and Having Fun at the Dive Bar Winston-Salem.

After exploring the vintage charm of Joyne’s Bar, we headed to Dive Bar—a lively, colorful space with an entirely different energy. This bar was filled with playful details, from string lights on the ceiling to basketball hoops, pool tables, and arcade games. It was the perfect spot for Rhesa and Chris to let their personalities shine.

What made Dive Bar extra special was the opportunity to add a personal touch. We were able to put their names on the wall, incorporating something unique to their session. Here, Rhesa and Chris really relaxed, letting their guard down and having fun. This shift allowed me to capture plenty of candid moments—genuine laughter, playful interactions, and the deep love they share.

The photos from Dive Bar are some of my favorites because they show Rhesa and Chris exactly as they are: joyful, connected, and full of life.

Bold, Moody, and Personalized Engagement Photos

What I loved most about this session was the variety it offered. From the dramatic, moody vibe of Joyne’s Bar to the vibrant, playful energy of Dive Bar, we created a gallery of images that truly captured the essence of Rhesa and Chris’s relationship.

Using flash photography throughout the session added a bold, dynamic element to the photos. Flash creates depth and contrast, allowing me to highlight the intimate moments in darker spaces while also bringing vibrancy to the lively, colorful ones. It’s this versatility that makes flash such a powerful tool for creating images that stand out.
