Your wedding day begins long before the ceremony — and some of the most meaningful images come from the quiet, beautiful moments at the start of the day. Detail photos help tell the full story of your wedding by capturing the little things you carefully chose and planned.

To make this part of the day smooth and stress-free, here’s exactly what to have prepared when your photographer arrives.

What Are Wedding Detail Photos?

Detail photos are the styled images of your wedding items before the day officially begins. These photographs capture the colors, textures, and personal touches that make your wedding uniquely yours.

These images often include your dress, rings, invitations, florals, and meaningful accessories, and they help tell the complete story of your wedding day from the very beginning.

Please Have Your Details Gathered Ahead of Time

The best way to keep your morning relaxed is to place all detail items together in one box or bag before I arrive.

This allows me to begin photographing immediately while you enjoy getting ready with your favorite people.

Florals

If possible, ask your florist to provide a few loose blooms or greenery. These are wonderful for styling detail photos and tying everything together beautifully.

Helpful Tips for the Best Photos

  • Remove plastic wrapping from items ahead of time.

  • Choose a clean, clutter-free area near a window if possible.

  • Neutral or wooden hangers photograph beautifully for dresses.

  • Gather meaningful items that represent your relationship or story.

  • Don’t worry about styling — I will take care of that!

Why This Preparation Matters

Having your details ready allows me to photograph everything efficiently without interrupting your getting-ready time. It keeps your timeline running smoothly and ensures you receive a full gallery that tells the complete story of your wedding day.
